Job Title: Research & Outreach Assistant (marginal employment) 

Job Location: The Central Executive Management Office of BBMRI‐ERIC in Graz, Austria 

Job Purpose: The Assistant will support the Outreach, Education & Communications team 

Details: Contract until July 2022 (extension possible), 6-12 hrs/week to be negotiated, not exceeding the earnings limit for marginal employment (“Geringfügigkeitsgrenze”). This role could be filled by a student intern or someone who has completed their studies and looking for a part-time opportunity.

BBMRI-ERIC is a European research infrastructure for biobanking and biomolecular resources. We bring together all the main players from the biobanking field – researchers, biobankers, industry, and patients – to boost biomedical research. Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities of the Role:

The Research & Outreach Assistant supports the Outreach, Education & Communications team in organizational, outreach and research tasks to enable us to better support our Scientific Affairs units. Most notably, the Assistant will upload and check accuracy of content for the ELSI Knowledge Base (https://www.bbmri-eric.eu/elsi-knowledge-base/), coordinate and post social media posts and newsletter entries, update documentation on projects and publications (eg. Zenodo, Endnote, etc) and support the organisation and execution of webinars and workshops. In addition, he/she will support the processing of project tasks such as basic literature research. 

Requirements of the Role:

The Research & Outreach Assistant is expected to be a pro-active problem solver who works independently as well as part of an interdisciplinary team. In addition, the jobholder should have the following skills: 

Required: 

  • Good knowledge of MS Office (including Excel) 
  • Experience in working with websites (WordPress) 
  • Solid knowledge of social media platforms such as Twitter and LinkedIn 
  • Very good English language and writing skills (your job will only be conducted in English, but your work will be proofread) if necessary 
  • Ability to follow workplans and meet deadlines. 

Desired: 

  • Experience with research-related data bases (e.g., EndNote, Zenodo, etc.) 
  • Experience with basic photo editing and graphic design (Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop) 

Employment Terms and Conditions:

The Research & Outreach Assistant will be directly employed by BBMRI‐ERIC at its Central Executive Management Office in Graz, Austria. Work may be carried out in the headquarters in Graz (following COVID-19 protocols) and/or in home office. The current situation due to Covid-19 requires that you can work self-organized and remotely.

Salary:

According to European/international standards for similar role and responsibilities and requirements

of this function, 1.500€ as minimum monthly gross salary (based on 40 hours/week). Working hours will be negotiated and expected to be 6-12 hours per week; thus the Assistant will be marginally employed (geringfügig beschäftigt) with accident insurance.
